Layout Created by my son TImothy Munnell. It Depicts the junction between the Chicago Kentucky Railroad and the Missouri, Indiana & Ontario. Two principal tables with two connecting tables and four tables for upper levels. One area represents Paris Illinois, whose central business district was encircled by railroads. The remaining areas are industrial and yards. Layout is Bachmann EZ track, which allows for its alteration each year. The layout will never be the same at any two visits. Operation includes five independent loops interconnected with bridges and ramps for a variety of operations. Also my son's friend Julian Lewis' new HO layout will be set up in the basement bedroom, which is adjacent to the Train Room. It is set in Virgina and West Virgina.

The layout is an around the walls of the basement with an additional yard in the garage. The benchwork is 24" wide apart from the return loops and aisles are 36" wide. The line to the rear of the benchwork rises up to 5" to the town of Rachel and the front track runs under Midway yard in the town of Rachel. The two main towns are in the return loops, Newry by the entrance to the room and Bessbrook directly in front of the entrance. Bessbrook also features a three foot wide peninsula with a passenger station on one side and a freight yard on the other. The town is elevated 12" above the station and forms an "L" shape along the peninsula and a perpendicular wall, or it will do when it is built. The inside of the return loop in Bessbrook has an engine terminal while Newry has several industries, three of whic are rail served. Other town on the layout are Camlough with a car ferry, Craigmore with a couple of industries, Towns Astra, and Carnbane are on a branch line and behind Bessbrook yard is the Mill Street switching district.

A must see layout! I have a lot of scratch built things from buildings to rolling stock to road signals and grade crossings. A duck under to the center of the layout or a walk around on the outside of the layout is best for more viewing and provides a lot of space for a lot of people. The Ford Motor Coal Dock has a ton of interesting detail with a lake freighter at dock side unloading coal. Detroit, Dearborn, Wayne, Dexter all have a spot on the layout. Over Dearborn, with banner in tow, is a bi-plane actually flying the full length of the southern part of Dearborn. A full moon (light globe) provides enough light for viewers to get a night time view of operations on the M&NYC. The Mercury and Wolverine passenger trains run daily out of the Michigan Central Depot. I use pine bark for rock formations and for some of my yard ballast I use dirt collected from the street at curb side. I have all my electric poles on the layout wired (thread or stretch line) and all street lights working. A very populated layout with people, cars, trucks and trees. I make what I can, kit bash if I have to and make it fit when it's necessary. If you pass my layout up you have really missed a very interesting visit.
