The Ticonderoga and Essex Junction Railroad (T&EJ) straddles Lake Champlain in upstate New York and Vermont in October 1957. A former branch line of the Boston and Maine Railroad (B&M), the compact T&EJ operates as a bridge line between the Delaware and Hudson Railroad (D&H) on the western shores of the lake and northern New England railroads converging in Essex Junction to the east of the lake. Many of the cars sorted at Essex Yard, to the east of Essex Junction, display heraldry from railroads such as Bangor and Aroostook, Rutland, Maine Central, Ontario Northland, and Central Vermont. A connection with the B&M division line at Essex Junction allows rail diesel car passenger and mail services between Boston and Montreal. However, dairy trains rule the rails on this bridge line; local freights give way to milk can pick ups and creamery drop offs. A granite quarry, operating since colonial times, also provides traffic for local businesses and destinations throughout the continent.

The driveway slopes up and there are two buildings at the top. The layout is in the house on the right. The stone steps from the driveway lead to the front door.
