"The New River Valley Railroad" is a fictitious railroad, set in Southwestern Virginia, depicting the area where I grew up. The era is thelate 50's, early 60's showcasing double headed Mallet coal drags with 2-8-8-2 helpers as well. It's also the era of the first generation diesels which were becoming more prevalent on the Virginian and N&W railroads. It is an HO layout, utilizing DCC for control; mostly hand laid track and individually cut ties in addition to many hand built turnouts. Several scratched built, kit bashed and believe it or not, complete kit structures are scattered about the layout. The scenery is 95% complete and the trains actually run...most of the time."
From the North.......use best route to Interstate I-85 south, outside of perimeter to exit 61, Fairburn-Peachtree City-Ga Hwy 74 exit. At top of ramp turn left heading south to P/T City, go approx 10 miles to intersection of Hwy 74 and Hwy 54, major intersection in P/T City. Turn left on Hwy 54, heading east and go approx 4 miles to "The Landings" subdivision. Turn left onto Oak Ridge Dr (Rd).
From the South.......use best route to Fayetteville or Peachtree City ......I am located approx 5 miles west of the courthouse in Fayetteville or 3/4 mile east of the P/T City limits, off Hwy 54. "The Landings" subdivision will be a right turn onto Oak Ridge if coming from Fayetteville, or a left turn if coming from P/T City.
