The Division name grows out of my youth in Huntington, West Virgina. My hometown was also home to the corporate headquarters of the C&O in those days and coal and railroad reigned supreme. Huntington was designated by the C&O Engineering Department and named for Collis P. Huntington, president of the C&O.

"Central City" is a community in West Huntington, bounded by the hills on the south and the Ohio River on the north. Its heart was 14th Street anchored on Washighton Ave. by Heiners Bakery and on Adams Ave. by the Falls City Brewery.

The New River was significant before the bridge over the gorge, bungee jumping and white water rafting made it famous. It is the life blood of South Central West Virginia and finds the C&O following its banks at every possible opportunity.

The NR and CC Division is a railroad from my heritage and a railroad for fun, children and grandchildren. It is a railroad that does not take itself too seriously with all the businesses and focal points eventually carrying the names of children and grandchildren.
