After moving to Georgia, I built a 16x32 foot “Train Station” and began work on my layout for my Hickory Creek RR. The HCRR represents a competing road with the EJ&E.

It supposes to allow rail rights around or through the Chicago metropolitan area as well as providing HCRR power to transfer and deliver rolling stock for Class 1 roads.

Railroads that use Chicago as a hub can be seen with some regularity. You just don’t know what will be working any particular day.

The period is the mid 60’s primarily but since we allow trackage rights there are times when steam can be seen as well some roads testing proposed acquisitions. As well, excursion trains and the Polar Express has been known to pas through.

ABB’s CEBX 800 Schnabel is stored regularly on a siding.

Directions

Driving east on I20 exit north bound at Georgia 17, Thomson. Take 17 through the light in Washington, past Fred’s and turn left at 78, 10 west. About 1 mile look for North Elijah Clark, turn right (north) and follow it around to 319 N. Elijah Clark.

From Athens take Lexington Road (78, 10 East) into Washington. At North Elijah Clark turn left (north) and follow it around to 319.
