After I got married I brought my childhood Lionel train back to run around the Christmas tree.  Several of my in-laws then started giving me porcelain buildings to add to the display.  The layout soon outgrew the tree and moved to other rooms as it expanded.  It eventually moved to the basement rec room but was still a temporary seasonal display of about 60 square feet and one train.  As Christmas time got busier the train and the houses languished in the closet for several years.  Plans for a December party one year prompted me to build a larger tabletop layout of 240 square feet where I could finally hide all of the wiring. Santa brought me another locomotive so I could now run two trains.  Over the last 7 years the layout has grown to almost 400 square feet with 400 feet of track, 75 buildings, 20 locomotives and almost 200 pieces of rolling stock.

Take exit 30 (Dunwoody) from the north perimeter (I-285). Note that this is a split exit so the directions going East or West are slightly different.

If you are traveling Westbound, proceed through the stoplight at the exit to the next stoplight and turn right onto North Shallowford Rd.  Travel a little over 1 mile (the street turns into Chamblee Dunwoody Rd after ½ mile) and turn right onto Shadow Bend. At the end of the street turn right onto Shadow Court.  1656 is in the Cul-de-sac.

If you are traveling Eastbound, turn left at the exit stoplight onto Chamblee Dunwoody Rd.  Travel approximately ½ mile to a stoplight where Chamblee Dunwoody Rd makes a left turn.  Continue on Chamblee Dunwoody Rd another ½ mile and turn right onto Shadow Bend.
